November is National Epilepsy Awareness Month

November calls for a national recognition by honoring National Epilepsy Awareness Month. With over 2 million individuals in the United States affected by epilepsy, it is imperative that we are informed on ways to increase quality of life for these individuals.

Epilepsy causes individuals to experience recurrent and sporadic seizures. Without the proper treatment, these seizures can cause more seizures, disabilities, and other health issues. Being able to recognize epilepsy after the first seizure so that the affected individual can receive the deserving care is extremely important. There are a variety of ways in which we can support the movement, including:

  • Share the National Epilepsy Awareness Month graphic on our social media pages. We can also use the hash tag, #riseaboveseizures in our posts.
  • Educate ourselves and others on the proper way to respond and react to someone having an episode.
  • Donate to a local epilepsy charity that provides affected individuals with much needed services and care.
