National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month

Alcohol addiction and drug addiction are both extremely serious ailments; thousands of people struggle with the debilitating conflicts that come along with addiction. September is National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month, an observance that is nationally recognized and sponsored by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services for those who choose to support people recovering from addiction.

National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month shares the message that prevention is the best way to avoid addiction as well as bringing awareness to effective recovery treatment for those suffering from addiction. Recovery month encourages us to help the cause and take action to improve the availability of recovery and therapeutic services for those who need it most.

NCADD has been sponsoring Recovery Month for approximately 20 years and holds events around the country for recovery awareness. Events like walks and fundraisers help draw in crowds and educate Americans about addiction and treatments.

Treatment is available for alcohol and drug addiction and there are steps we can take to make these services more effective and more available to those in need.
