Easter Weekend: From Mourning To Joy

Celebrating Life Over This Weekend

As a practicing Roman Catholic, I look forward to the next few days. While today marks Good Friday, a day of mourning in the Church as it remembers the day that Jesus died on the cross, we get to look forward to Easter Sunday, when Jesus was raised from the dead.

Also this evening is the first day of Passover, where our Jewish friends celebrate the eight day festival.  According to Jewish tradition, the first two days and the last two days of Passover are holidays.  Having the first two days of Passover land on a weekend will most likely make it easier for folks to enjoy the holiday even more!

No matter the traditions you practice, this weekend is a wonderful time to think about redemption and life. If you follow the Christian tradition, Sunday marks a day of triumph when Jesus overcame death and darkness to rescue us. If you follow another religion, are agnostic, or are an atheist, Sunday can still serve as a day to look around at the natural beauty of the spring season and soak in the moments of beauty and life.

Whatever your religion (or lack thereof), we hope that you and your loved ones get to celebrate the freshness of spring and the beauty of life on this weekend that is all about light! To catch up on the latest from The Maria Sanchez Show, download the latest podcast today.
