Celebrating World Kindness Day on November 13th!

On this unique day, it is important that we do our part to spread world kindness. Unfortunately, far too many nations are currently experiencing turmoil, emphasizing the importance of spreading positivity amongst nations during this time.

A collection of humanitarian groups came together on November 13, 1997 and made a “Declaration of Kindness”. Likewise, on Kindness Day everyone is encouraged to make a similar declaration. Donating books, food or clothes to our local community is a great way to celebrate. However, pledging to commit just one act of kindness is no less worthwhile: hold the door open for a stranger, compliment a neighbor on their collection of garden gnomes, let your partner have control of the TV remote for the evening.

It is observed in many countries, including Canada, Japan, Australia, Nigeria and United Arab Emirates. In 2009, Singapore observed the day for the first time. Italy and India also observe the day. In the UK it is fronted by Louise Burfitt-Dons who co-founded Kindness Day UK.

There are a variety of other ways to support World Kindness Day, including:

  • Chances are we spend a good amount of our free time on social media.  Why not make good use of our time and spread positive messages across our social media pages?
  • Try to compliment everyone we speak to on this special day. This is a great habit to get into.
  • Picking up litter will not only benefit our immediate vicinity, but it will benefit the planet as a whole.
  • Most importantly, educate others about the movement.
