Tips to Get Ready for World Kindness Day

Learn how to celebrate World Kindness Day!

As the holidays near, everyone is a little cheerier. We get into the giving spirit and show each other a little genuine kindness. Kick off the season of giving on November 13 with World Kindness Day! Established on November 13, 1997, World Kindness Day was established to help make our world a better place. Pay it forward, and do something nice for a stranger. Join in on the fun, and check out these ways to celebrate World Kindness Day.

  • Buy the person behind you in line a coffee at the café.
  • Give a stranger a compliment. It’s sure to brighten their day!
  • Drive respectfully on the freeway, and let someone cut in front of you. You never know why they may be in a rush.
  • Take the time to hold the door open for a stranger as you leave a building.
  • If you are the recipient of exceptional customer service/support, acknowledge the individual for treating you so well.  One of my favorites is to “report a compliment” which always gets a stare.  I just did this at the DMV.  I was treated so well by the clerk that I asked for her name so that “I can report a compliment.”  When she understood what I meant, she smiled brightly and gave me her name and I wrote a report at that very moment and turned it into her supervisor.
  • A simple smile and “hello” to a stranger is often a surprise but usually really well received.
