Learn How We Can Raise Awareness About the Environment for World Environment Day

Let’s Celebrate Native American Heritage Month

Find out how we can participate in World Environment Day.

The natural world is full of wonder. However, we often may forget that we share our planet with other living creatures. Please join us in raising awareness about the environment for World Environment Day on June 5, 2017. As part of an effort set forth by the United Nations, World Environment Day helps to generate interest in protecting the environment and raise awareness about threats to the natural world.  It began in 1972 and this year’s host country is Canada.  They chose the theme, and they will be at the center of the worldwide celebrations.

This year’s theme is, “Connecting People to Nature.”

Here are a few suggestions we may like to engage in to join in the fun.

Explore Nature

The better able we are to connect with nature, the better able we are to advocate for it. Spend World Environment Day by getting out and exploring nature in our backyard. Weather notwithstanding, we have lots of resources that are available to us via bicycle, a nice hike, or even a short drive.  From hiking to kayaking, there’s a lot to do.

Get Involved

Participate in World Environment Day by getting involved in the community. Volunteer for a local organization to help with conservation efforts. From a beach cleanup to a removal of invasive species project, there are a lot of ways to get involved.

Resources has wonderful information and history about World Environment Day.  #WithNature is the hashtag to use when mentioning whatever it is that you and your loved ones may be doing.

Join us at The Maria Sanchez Show in participating in World Environment Day. Don’t forget to check out our latest program, Shadow Politics with Senator Michael D. Brown. Tune in on Sundays at 4:00 p.m. PDT/7:00 p.m. EDT.
