Check Out These Veterans Day Celebration Tips to Honor Members of the U.S. Armed Forces!

Let’s Wish Eleanor Roosevelt “Happy Birthday” Today!

Our suggestions to celebrate Veterans Day.

November 11 is Veterans Day. Established as a national holiday in 1954, Veterans Day helps to recognize those that have fought for our country. The holiday originally began after World War I in 1918 as Armistice Day, as many remembrance days were held on November 11th around the world. Please join us as we honor the individuals that have served in the U.S. Armed Forces, who have courageously put their lives on the line to serve our country and defend our freedom. Here’s how we can celebrate.

Perhaps one way to honor our veterans is to connect with them in person and share with them how appreciative we are of their service. Whether they’re a close friend, family member, or acquaintance, acknowledging them and thanking them in person would likely provide an opportunity for them to relive some of their memories and hopefully, sharing them with us.  If an in-person visit isn’t possible, then we’d like to suggest giving them a call, send them a message, or stop in at a local veterans’ hospital. This too will more than likely, help to brighten their day.

The Veterans Day National Committee recognizes select Veterans Day observances throughout the country that represents fitting tributes to America’s heroes.

On a national level, one of the most moving ceremonies is held each year on November 11th at Arlington National Cemetery. The ceremony commences precisely at 11:00 a.m. with a wreath laying at the Tomb of the Unknowns and continues inside the Memorial Amphitheater with a parade of colors by veterans’ organizations and remarks from dignitaries. The ceremony is intended to honor and thank all who served in the United States Armed Forces.
