Tips for Female Entrepreneurs on International Women’s Day

Helping females launch their businesses.

Today is International Women’s Day.  As the name suggests, this day is dedicated to celebrating the economic, political, and social achievements of women from past to present.  For those of us who have long dreamed of opening up our own companies, now may be the perfect time to woman-up and go for it!  Here are some considerations that might help us get our footing.

  • Evaluate Our Strengths

Before jumping in headfirst, it’s suggested that we have a clear idea of what our businesses will be.  Just because we can do a little bit of everything doesn’t mean that we should.  Rather than stretching ourselves too thin, we need to think objectively about what we are good at and what we would like to devote our lives to.  Once we have a solid idea of what our businesses will specialize in, this will guide all our other business decisions.

  • Do Our Homework

As entrepreneurs trying to launch businesses, it’s absolutely imperative that we do the proper research.  For example, we can explore our potential markets, investigate likely competitors, and think of ways to set our companies apart.  It’s also important to foster connections with other entrepreneurs and local businesses and make the most of their practical advice and guidance.  The more we know about the professional landscape, the better equipped we will be to make an impact.

  • Network

There are plenty of opportunities to meet other like-minded individuals through the Chamber of Commerce and service organizations such as Rotary, Kiwanis, Sorpormist, and local charities.  Being active and involved with our communities is a win/win/win, everyone takes something home with them we were are of service to others.

  • Value Customer Service

When our businesses are small, we can’t realistically think of competing with big-name, national corporations.  However, there are some advantages to running a smaller operation.  By being responsive, polite, and ready to go the extra mile, we may attract a stream of loyal customers.  This can help us generate the stable income we need to help our businesses grow and succeed.

We at The Maria Sanchez Show hope that women will try out these tips for launching their own businesses this International Women’s Day.  Don’t forget to check out our latest program, Shadow Politics with Senator Michael D. Brown.   Tune in on Sundays at 4:00 p.m. PST/7:00 p.m. EST.
