The Benefits of Better Sleep

May is Better Sleep Month and here at The Maria Sanchez Show, we think it’s vital to focus on the importance of getting a full night’s sleep in general.

Your sleep cycle plays a huge role in your overall health. Everything from your weight to your mood throughout the day depends heavily on getting an appropriate amount of sleep for your age. When you think about Better Sleep Month, you should understand that the month isn’t merely an opportunity to catch up on some rest. The idea of the event is to raise awareness about the negative effects that getting too little sleep has on our health and wellbeing.

Studies from the Better Sleep Council throughout the years have shown that two out of three people have trouble sleeping due to stress. It’s important to do whatever you can to relax and get a full sleep cycle in, whenever possible.  Personally, if I find that I ever wake up in the middle of the night and start thinking about things, I remind myself that we can’t solve matters in the darkness.  We’ve been told that gratitude and stress cannot coexist.  So if you find yourself tossing and turning, focus on what you are grateful for and amazingly, you just might fall back to sleep!
