Suggestions to Help Us Live the Best Lifestyle for Our Bodies

Committing to a healthier lifestyle isn’t as difficult as we might think.

While we might admire the popular fitness and health gurus on social media, many of us may feel that we cannot live up to such a standard. However, living a healthier lifestyle doesn’t necessarily mean that we have to run ten miles or drink kale smoothies every day. In fact, living healthier may be as simple as starting with small, easy adjustments to our normal routines. Here are some suggestions for us to live better lifestyles for the sake of our bodies.

Hydrate

While this might seem too easy or obvious, many of us fail to get the recommended amount of water every day. Health authorities commonly recommend eight 8-ounce glasses, which equals about a half a gallon. This is called the 8×8 rule and is very easy to remember. Keep in mind that these are just average estimates; our weight, activity level, and environmental factors affect our individual water goals. To stay hydrated throughout the day, we should make sure to drink a full glass of water when we wake up and before meals. Additionally, we suggest carrying reusable water bottles so we can continue sipping throughout the day.

Wash Our Hands

While we all know to wash our hands after using the bathroom and before eating, many of us don’t think about washing our hands outside of these instances. However, it’s good for us to get into the habit of washing before we prepare food and after handling animals, shaking hands, or touching other objects and surfaces that others have had contact with (door handles, stair rails, elevator buttons, etc.). By being more vigilant about washing our hands, we can reduce our chances of getting sick and also reduce the chances of passing something to other individuals including children or the elderly.

Meal Prep

Our daily lives can get very hectic and, after a long day, the last thing many of us may want to do is shop for and prepare a healthy meal. As a result, many of us turn to greasy fast food or take out options. To avoid this unhealthy eating, we should try to plan out and prepare a series of healthy meals to last a week. When our fridges are filled with pre-sliced veggies and lean proteins, it makes it much easier to stay on track with our meals. Additionally, we might like to keep a couple of homemade meals in the freezer for those days when simply turning on the stove seems like too much effort. Making these preparations may will help us eat healthier even under the most stressful and exhausting conditions.
