Pass the Spaghetti, Please! Today is World Pasta Day

Pass the Spaghetti, Please! Today is World Pasta Day

Today, let’s learn more about nearly everyone’s favorite food.

October 25th is World Pasta Day, a day dedicated to celebrating pasta from all over the world.  This World Pasta Day, let’s consider these festive suggestions.

1) Pasta for every meal.  One way to celebrate World Pasta Day is to serve a different pasta dish for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.  While it may seem strange for many Americans, noodles are a breakfast staple for many different cultures.  So on the 25th, try serving spaghetti with scrambled eggs for breakfast, a fresh pasta salad for lunch, and a delicious baked ziti for dinner.

2) Throw a world pasta party.  Another way to celebrate World Pasta Day is to throw a party where everyone brings a different pasta dish from around the world.  While macaroni and cheese and spaghetti and spaghetti and meatballs are undeniably delicious, let’s take the opportunity to expand out culinary horizons.  Some great recipes to try out include Korean stir-fried noodles (japchae), Italian pasta in clam sauce (spaghetti alle vongole), and Chinese scallion oil noodles (cong you ban mian).

Perhaps not ironically, the first World Pasta Congress was held in Rome, Italy on October 25, 1995, when World Pasta Day was established by 40 International pasta producers.  This year, World Pasta Day will be celebrated in Brazil specifically in the city of São Paulo.  San Paulo is considered one of the world’s capitals of gastronomy.

They are bringing together leading industry leaders and industry executives with an exclusive program that will feature Brazilian and international speakers who will discuss economic, nutritional and cultural aspects about pasta.
