Participate in National Walk to School Day

Encouraging our children to get moving on National Walk to School Day.

Two things we value here at The Maria Sanchez Show are healthy living and our children. We’d like to invite both of these populations and to encourage all of them to join in and honor National Walk to School Day! On October 5, 2016, we’d like to suggest that you join us and participate in a nationwide effort to help get our kids, and who are we kidding, ourselves, more active.

With childhood obesity and diabetes on the rise and an increasing dependence and usage of our digital devices, it’s important to encourage our kids to be active. From walking to school to playing soccer, it helps to reinforce healthy habits and overall wellness.  We can also participate by walking our kids to school. We can even take a picture and post it on social media with the caption #walktoschoolday.

National Walk to School Day, doesn’t have to be limited to school. Here’s a novel concept, we might actually lead by example, perhaps we might join in and set a good example and walk to work! That way we can show our families that we care about our health just as much as we care about their health.  If walking to work is logistically impossible, and in a lot of suburban areas, that is the case, let’s park further away from our ultimate destination, take public transportation all or part of the way, or even carpool – we’ll be taking ourselves out of our comfort zones, one way or the other.

Join The Maria Sanchez Show in celebrating National Walk to School Day. We make good health a practice in our daily lives and we hope you will too! Don’t forget to check out our latest program, Shadow Politics with Senator Michael D. Brown. Tune in on Sundays at 4:00 p.m. PDT/7:00 p.m. EDT.
