Tomorrow is National Lasagna Day!

July 29th is National Lasagna Day.  Get ready to enjoy the mouthwatering aromas coming from the kitchen on this beautiful hot July day. As one of Italy’s most delicious creations, lasagna is the perfect family dish and allows everyone to share one perfectly layered concoction filled with pasta, tomato sauce, cheeses, and Italian sausage. If you don’t have time to try this delicious recipe yourself, head to your local Italian restaurant and support National Lasagna Day.

What you’ll need:

  • ¾ Cup of Chopped Onion
  • 2 Cloves of Minced Garlic
  • 2 Tablespoons of Olive Oil
  • 2 (26oz) Jars of Spaghetti Sauce
  • 1 Pound of Ground Beef or 1 Pound of Sausage (Traditional Italian, if available)
  • 1 Container of Ricotta Cheese
  • 1 Package of Chopped Spinach
  • 1 Pound of Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
  • ½ Cup of Grated Parmesan Cheese
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 Package of Lasagna Noodle, Cooked

Begin by cooking the ground beef/sausage, onion, garlic, and oil in a large pan and add the spaghetti sauce and simmer for 15 minutes. Once you mix the cheeses and eggs, you can begin layering the sauce and noodles in a baking dish. The spinach should be in the middle. Cover the concoction with foil and bake. Serve and enjoy!
