May is National Foster Care Month

National Foster Care Month

We can all do our part during National Foster Care Month.

Can you imagine being an orphan? If you didn’t grow up that way, the idea of spending your formative years without a parent to rely on sounds foreign. It probably also sounds a little scary – and it can be! That is, unless someone gets involved. That’s why we’re so grateful for the opportunity to observe National Foster Care Month this May.

During this important month, we hope you’ll join us to spread the word about the urgent need for caring people to get involved in our nation’s foster system. We’ve all heard horror stories about foster care, but we can be the difference!

Of the foster care population, 52% are male and 48% female.  39% are 5-years old or younger.  23% are in the 6 to 10-year-old range.  22% are 11 to 15-years old and 16% are 16 to 20-years old.

If you have the opportunity to become a foster parent, please consider it seriously. Foster parents have the privilege of saving and shaping the lives of tomorrow’s leaders! There are over 400,000 kids in foster care who need a loving home. Need a little inspiration? Check out these moving foster care success stories!

Even if opening your home isn’t an option, you can make a difference. Consider getting involved with local orphans. Your time with them and the care you share can make all the difference!

The Maria Sanchez Show is passionate about spreading awareness during National Foster Care Month, and we hope you’ll join us! Learn more about other important issues on our latest program, Shadow Politics with Senator Michael D. Brown. We air every Sunday at 4:00 p.m. PDT/7:00 p.m. EDT.
