Remembering Martin Luther King, Jr. on MLK Day

Remembering Martin Luther King, Jr. on MLK Day

Today, we celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr. and the tremendous legacy he left behind.

Every third Monday in January, we pause to reflect upon a marvelous and inspirational man who created a tremendous national and global impact. Today is officially commemorated as Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Although the holiday doesn’t always fall on Reverend King’s actual birthday (January 15th), it’s always close and serves as a great reminder to commemorate and honor this tremendously progressive and visionary man for our country.

The Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr. is still a primary national symbol of nonviolence and equality. As a powerful spokesperson for the Civil Rights movement, Mr. King lent his vision as a voice for the people. Through him, our nation turned our eyes to racial inequality. His legacy today is our progress towards a country in which all people aspire to enjoy equal rights.

We’re significantly closer to realizing Mr. King’s dream than we were when he was born in 1929, but we still have our work to do. The Maria Sanchez Show’s latest program, Shadow Politics, turns the spotlight on the political state of our nation and where we’re headed. Learn more by tuning in as I join Senator Michael D. Brown Sundays at 4:00 p.m. PST/7:00 p.m. EST.
