Let’s Travel Green in 2020

How we can be eco-friendly travelers.

Now, more than ever, it’s important to consider how our actions are affecting the health of the planet.  One way that we can be more eco-friendly is by adopting sustainable travel practices.  Want to travel greener in 2020?  Here are some of the suggestions to consider.

Avoid Flying

Air travel is worse for the environment than any other form of travel.  To reduce the impact that we have on the planet, we could consider avoiding flying whenever possible.  If flying is the only viable option for us, then we need to do our best to avoid taking multiple flights to reach our destinations—non-stop flights are the more environmentally-friendly option.

Walk Whenever Possible

Most Americans do not think twice about jumping into their cars, even when they are only going a short distance away.  Rather than adding these unnecessary CO2 omissions to the atmosphere, let’s try to walk whenever possible.  Not only is walking better for the environment, but it is also good for our mental and physical health as well.  As an added bonus, it will save us money on gas.

Reduce Our Impact

When traveling, most people let go of their everyday worries and concerns.  However, let’s not let our vacations affect our efforts to be eco-conscious.  To be more environmentally-friendly during our travels, here are some suggestions:

  • Bring refillable bath products to reduce the number of plastic containers we throw away.
  • Carry refillable water bottles with us to avoid buying bottled water.
  • Forgo plastic straws.
  • Carry reusable grocery bags, so we do not have to buy plastic ones.
