Here are some suggestions to hopefully thwart the Flu Season

We’d like to suggest ways to take better care of ourselves this flu season.

With the holidays coming up, the last thing that we want is for the flu to ruin all our holiday festivities.  Luckily, there are steps that we can take which will likely help us to stay healthy this flu season.  Here are some of the protective measures that we suggest we start employing today.

  • Being Proactive About Our Health

One of the best ways to protect ourselves from the flu is by taking preventative health measures.  For instance, getting the flu vaccine is one of the most effective ways to prepare our bodies to fight off the flu virus this season.  In addition to getting our flu shots, we can also reduce our risk of getting sick by eating well and taking immune-boosting supplements. Finally, making sure that we get enough sleep every night will help our bodies to likely stay resistant enough to fight off most challenges that may come our way.

  • Practicing Good Hygiene

Another effective way to likely stay healthy this cold and flu season is by practicing good hygiene.  Keeping ourselves and our environments clean will minimize our contact with harmful germs and will decrease our chances of getting sick.  This winter, let’s be sure to wash our hands frequently, especially after touching someone and before eating.  Additionally, it is suggested that we carry around hand sanitizer to fight germs on the go. Finally, regularly wiping down our desks, common areas, and even grocery carts with anti-bacterial wipes may prevent illness-causing germs from spreading throughout our surroundings.

  • Caring for Ourselves

Finally, if we do feel ourselves getting sick, then it’s important that we do not try to push through it.  Attempting to maintain our busy lifestyles will likelyonly make us feel worse.  Instead, we should take the time we need to heal.  Not only will this self-care speed up our recoveries, but it will also prevent us from spreading our germs to other people.  In this case, caring for ourselves benefits others as well as us.
