Celebrating Stand for Children Day.

Stand for Children Day first started on June 1, 1996, when the Children’s Defense Fund organized the largest demonstration for children in history.  The demonstration brought over 300,000 people to the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C.  After this historic demonstration, June 1st became known as Stand for Children Day and the Children’s Defense Fund established a non-profit organization called Stand for Children.

According to, “For more than 20 years, Stand for Children has advocated for better and equal education standards for all children by utilizing a strong three-pillared approach: Parents, Politics, and Policy.”  Throughout the years, Stand for Children has helped disadvantaged youth secure access to healthcare, food, clothing, and other essential resources.  However, the main focus of Stand for Children is helping children gain access to equal education opportunities and reforming the public education system.

In honor of Stand for Children Day, let’s all take a moment to remember the importance of childhood education with these inspiring quotes.
