Let’s Celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month

Let’s Celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic history and culture during this year’s National Hispanic Heritage Month.

National Hispanic Heritage Month is observed every year from September 15- October 15.  During this month, the United States recognizes the many contributions made by Hispanic and Latino Americans throughout history.   Spend this National Hispanic Heritage Month learning about Hispanic American heroes and generating awareness for Hispanic and Latino culture.  Here are some great tips to celebrate this month.

-Create an Educational Piñata- Wrap pieces of candy in papers that include information on notable Hispanic American leaders and fun facts about Hispanic culture.   Use these candies to fill an empty piñata and get swinging!  This is a great way for people of all ages to learn a little bit more about Hispanic heritage.

-Go on a Cultural Adventure- Take your family to a Hispanic restaurant, museum, or cultural center.  Encourage others  to try new foods, ask questions, and participate in any cultural activities.  This is a fun, hands-on way to learn a little bit more about Hispanic history and culture.

-Learn Some Spanish Phrases- Choose a Spanish word or phrase to learn each day and practice until you and your family can use it perfectly!  Additionally, teach your kids some of the many commonly used words that originate from Spanish.  Language is an important aspect of every culture, so learning a little bit of Spanish is an awesome way to celebrate Hispanic culture.
