Let’s Avoid These Bad Health Habits

Let’s all try to break our bad health habits this month.

We all have bad habits, however there are certain habits that are particularly detrimental to our health.  Here are some of the worst health habits that we should try to avoid.


For those of us that smoke, we are putting ourselves at risk every time we light up a cigarette.  Not only can smoking increase our risk for respiratory conditions, but it can also increase our chances of developing a serious cardiovascular condition as well.  It’s also important to remember that the second-hand smoke we produce can also pose a health risk for those around us.

Mindless Snacking

While we should never deprive ourselves when we’re feeling hungry, many of us will admit that we have a bad habit of snacking even when we are not hungry.  To make matters worse, many of us tend to snack on junk foods.  Not only can this kind of thoughtless snacking make it difficult for us to maintain a healthy weight, but it also floods our systems with unnecessary fats, sugars, and salts.

Being a Couch Potato

After a long, tiring day, there’s nothing wring with relaxing on the couch.  However, it’s important that we do not become perpetual couch potatoes.  Our bodies require exercise to stay strong and healthy.  So, spending extended periods of time parked on our couches means that we’re probably not getting all the physical activity that our bodies need.  This lack of exercise can increase our chances of becoming overweight, developing type 2 diabetes, and developing heart disease.
