Perhaps We May Choose to get involved this No-Shave November.

While many of us may have heard about No-Shave November, we may not know what this actually is all about.   To explain, during the month of November, participants will choose to forgo shaving and grooming as a means of spreading awareness for cancer.

The idea behind this event is to embrace the hair that cancer patients lose while undergoing treatment.  Additionally, organizers encourage participants to donate the money they would have spent on grooming to support cancer research and education.  Additionally, many people start growing out their hair, so at the end of the month, they can donate it to organizations that make wigs for cancer patients.

For those of us who are interested in getting involved this No Shave November, we can register at the No Shave November official website HERE.   We can also make donations to support the cause HERE.  This year, No Shave November is working with the Prevent Cancer Foundation, Fight Colorectal Cancer, and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in their efforts to educate and end cancer.

Participants in the No Shave November event are also encouraged to post on their social media platforms and encourage their friends and followers to support the cause.  The No Shave November site also has printable flyers and advertising materials that we can post in our workplaces, schools, and other public areas to spread awareness and encourage participation.

There may be work place tensions or limits on this campaign.  While the campaign encourages men to grow out their facial hair in exchange for awareness and funds devoted to beating cancer. According to noshave.org, the ultimate goal of the No-Shave November movement “is to grow awareness by embracing our hair, which many cancer patients lose, and letting it grow wild and free.”  But not every company is a fan of lazy grooming and shaggy workers.

We at The Maria Sanchez Show hope you will join us as we get involved this No Shave November.   Don’t forget to check out our latest program, Shadow Politics with Senator Michael D. Brown.   Tune in on Sundays at 4:00 p.m. PDT/7:00 p.m. EDT.
