Just because summer has come and gone doesn’t mean it’s time to put away the sunscreen. It’s important to practice healthy skin habits year round. It’s vital for us to be wary of skin cancer during Healthy Skin Month. By taking good care of our skin, we’re proactive.  Please consider the following suggestions for what we should know about keeping our skin healthy.

Be wary of the sun.

The sun has harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays that are damaging. However, just because summer is over doesn’t mean that UV rays disappear. Any time that we’re out in the sunlight, even when it’s cloudy, it’s important to take sun precautions. Minimize the risk of damaging our skin and getting skin cancer by using plenty of sunscreens and a hat whenever we’re outdoors.

Be gentle.

When it comes to the routine, ensure that you use gentle products. We should limit the time we spend in hot water as it dries out our skin. Additionally, we should use gentle soaps, and pat down our skin to dry it. Lastly, moisturize regularly. Applying emollients help to keep our skin well hydrated.
