Happy Birthday Albert Einstein!

Happy Birthday Albert Einstein!

Let’s learn more about this iconic genius in honor of his birthday.

Today marks the anniversary of Albert Einstein’s (1879-1955) birthday.  Einstein was born on this day in 1879 to parents Hermann Einstein (salesman) and Pauline Koch (engineer) in the German Empire.  From an early age, Einstein demonstrated a gift for mathematics and physics, often studying subject matter that was years ahead of his peers.

While most of us are familiar with Einstein and some of his more famous accomplishments (such as his mass-energy equivalence E= mc², and his 1921 Nobel Prize for his contributions to Theoretical Physics), many of us do not understand the full scope of his genius. For instance, many of us might not know that Einstein had over 50 patents to his name.  Additionally, some of Einstein’s inventions and discoveries changed the world as we know it.  Here are some of his most influential inventions and theories.

  • Einstein refrigerator– absorption refrigerator that makes use of heat for running/fuelling a cooling system.
  • Theoretical study of nuclear physics– Einstein’s study in this field played a central role in the development of the first nuclear weapon. Please note Einstein was not on the team that developed the atom bomb and condemned its use on the Japanese during World War II.
  • General and Special theory of relativity– Einstein’s attempt to reconcile the laws of electromagnetic fields with those of classical mechanics.
  • Photoelectric effect– discovery that light is made of particles (protons) that contain energy.

According to, Einstein was married twice, first to his former student Mileva Maric, and then to his cousin Elsa. It is alleged that his marriages were marred with affairs.  In 2006 there was a release of close to 1,400 previously unknown letters from the scientist and the access to this correspondence offered a more well-rounded view of his relationship to both his wives and his family.

We at The Maria Sanchez Show hope you will join us as we remember some of Einstein’s most impressive accomplishments in honor of his birthday. Don’t forget to check out our latest program, Shadow Politics with Senator Michael D. Brown. Tune in on Sundays at 4:00 p.m. PDT/7:00 p.m. EDT.
