Great American Smokeout 2013

If there was ever a time to ‘kick the habit’ when it comes to smoking or using other tobacco-related products, now is the time. The Great American Smokeout 2013 takes place on November 21, 2013.

The Great American Smokeout 2013 is a nationwide event held by the American Cancer Society that is designed specifically to raise awareness for tobacco-related diseases. Everything from lung cancer to cardiovascular disease has been linked to smoking or using tobacco products and this event raises awareness on just how important it is to ‘kick the habit’.

In addition to raising awareness on tobacco-related diseases, this event encourages smokers to work towards their goal of quitting. The Great American Smokeout asks smokers to revisit their plan to quit and even make an effort to stop smoking just for 24 hours.

This nationwide event coincides with Nation Lung Cancer Awareness Month. November is officially dedicated to raising awareness for lung cancer. The Great American Smokeout is just one of many ways in which awareness for this cancer, which has been linked to smoking and tobacco use, is raised.
