Diabetes Awareness Month

Here at the Maria Sanchez Show, we like to have fun and inspire people, but there’s more to it than that. This month is Diabetes Awareness Month. If you have diabetes or you know someone who does, you know it’s something you have to focus on every month. Making people more aware can save lives, and help make those lives richer, healthier, and more fulfilling, too. There are two types of diabetes – Type I and Type II. People who have Type I are usually diagnosed in childhood, and there isn’t much that can be done to stop the disease from happening.

For people who have Type II diabetes, though, there are options. It can be avoided in a lot of cases, and can sometimes be reversed, too. Losing weight, eating healthier, and getting exercise are all ways to stave off Type II diabetes. If you’ve been diagnosed with it, you may want to work with your doctor on a plan to get your weight and diet under control. While it won’t guarantee you a reversal of your condition, it’s well worth the effort and can also make you healthier in other ways.
