Here’s some stress busters for a conflict-free Thanksgiving.

While the holidays are about celebrating family togetherness, spending too much time with our loved ones may inadvertently lead to tension and conflict.   To help us maintain a stress free Thanksgiving, here are some suggestionsthat we can do to keep arguments at bay.

  • Pick Our Battles

Part of being with family means compromising.  While it’s important to hold our ground when it comes to issues related to health, safety, and basic values, there are smaller issues that we can afford to bend on.  At some point, it’s possible that our relatives may do or say something that we disagree with. However, rather than engaging with them in a negative manner, it’s in everyone’s best interest to let it go.

  • Try to Resolve Conflict Leading Up to the Holiday

For those of us who may already be embroiled in a dispute with a family member that we will see this Thanksgiving, it’s advisable to do our best to smooth things over with them ahead of time.  This way, we may avoid any unnecessary tension that could potentially devolve into an unpleasant situation.

  • Remember That We Love Our Families

While dealing with family may be stressful, it’s important to remind ourselves that at the end of the day, we most likely are fond of one another.  Let’s try to look at the big picture and remember the value that these people bring to our lives.  Having a more positive outlook will likely helpus to remain calm and stay in gratitude this holiday season.

We at The Maria Sanchez Show hope you will try out these suggestions to avoid family tensions this Thanksgiving.   Don’t forget to check out our latest program, Shadow Politics with Senator Michael D. Brown.   Tune in on Sundays at 4:00 p.m. PDT/7:00 p.m. EDT.
