Cinco de Mayo and Tequila, The Two Go Hand in Hand

The Maria Sanchez Show is offering talk radio listeners great advice about how to properly drink tequila this Cinco de Mayo.  You need to know what qualifies as the real deal with tequila. Look for labels stating 100 percent agave tequila. Skip over the bottles that state they are “made with agave,” as this means the liquor contains 51 percent agave and 49 percent crap.

Real tequila is best served neat so you can enjoy the complexity of this beverage. Want to add a lime to your beverage? Slice the limes into thirds rather than halves so you get the most juice.  If you are serving margaritas, do it correctly by mixing only ½ ounce freshly squeeze lime juice, 1 ounce orange liqueur, and 1 ½ ounces 100% agave tequila.

Here at The Maria Sanchez Show we like to sip on Reposado tequila for our Cinco de Mayo celebrations. Then we savor the flavors of Sangrita, a Mexican beverage that should not be confused with Sangria. Sangrita draws the subtle tones out of tequila for a perfect match.
