Celebrating the Anniversary of the Peace Corps

Let’s celebrate the Peace Corps during the week-long celebration marking its anniversary.

Today kicks off Peace Corps Week, a week that commemorates President John F. Kennedy’s establishment of the Peace Corps back in 1961.  The goal of this week is to recognize all of the ways that the Peace Corps serves both at home and abroad.

The theme of this year’s anniversary celebration is “Peace Corps 2020+: Building the Future.”  As our world continues to change, new opportunities and challenges will arise.  It’s important that we keep up with these changes and find ways to promote growth, tolerance, and innovation all over the world.

The Peace Corps offers a variety of ways for us to get involved during their anniversary week.  For instance, we can attend local Peace Corps events and enjoy pictures, and stories from Peace Corps volunteers under the hashtag #PeaceCorpsWeek.  We can also work to adopt a more global perspective by educating ourselves on current international affairs and finding ways to get involved.  By stepping up and making an effort to evoke change, we can all celebrate this Peace Corps Week.

We at The Maria Sanchez Show hope that you will join us as we celebrate this Peace Corps Week.  Don’t forget to check out our latest program, Shadow Politics with Senator Michael D. Brown.   Tune in on Sundays at 4:00 p.m. PST/7:00 p.m. EST.
