How We Can Honor World Teachers’ Day

Let’s show our thanks this World Teachers’ Day.

Today is World Teachers’ Day.  Also known as International Teachers Day, this designation commemorates the 1966 UNESCO/ILO Recommendation Concerning the Status of Teachers.  As the name suggests, this holiday is appreciating educators all over the world and acknowledging the role they play in shaping society.

We can all do our parts to honor World Teachers’ Day by showing our local educators how much they mean to our families and ultimately, our communities.  While we can always express our thanks by giving small gifts and tokens of appreciations, there are other meaningful ways that we can take as well.

As a suggestion, we can help by generating awareness for the issues that teachers in our school districts are facing.  Whether it be budget cuts, unfair salaries, or the lack of governmental support, we can stand with our local teachers to amplify their voices. As teachers dedicate their lives to educating and shaping our children and the generations to come, the least that we can do is to offer them our support when they need it the most.

We at The Maria Sanchez Show hope you will join us as we stand with teachers this World Teachers’ Day.  Don’t forget to check out our latest program, Shadow Politics with Senator Michael D. Brown.  Tune in on Sundays at 4:00 p.m. PDT/7:00 p.m. EDT.
