How We Can Celebrate National Siblings Day

How We Can Celebrate National Siblings Day

Learn how we can show our siblings how much we care for National Siblings Day.

Many of us feel that family is important. They often play a key role in our lives and shape how we grow and develop as people, especially when it comes to our siblings. We grow up with our siblings and share unique life experiences with them. However, we rarely celebrate our siblings. We’d like to invite you to join us in celebrating National Siblings Day on April 10.

Established in the 1990s, National Siblings Day allows us to be mindful of our relationships with our siblings and celebrate our love for one another. For those of us who are interested in participating in National Siblings Day, here are some suggestions that might be a fun way to celebrate.

  • Send a Card. We can let our siblings know that we’re thinking of them on National Siblings Day. A simple card with a little note telling them how much we appreciate them can go a long way.  In today’s busy world, a USPS card may have a huge impact on the receiver.  In this day of electronic communications, it has become so rare to receive something that is hand written.
  • Spend Time Together. As siblings, we likely have a strong a bond. Choose an activity and spend time with each other to celebrate.  That’s difficult for my three siblings and me because we live up and down the state of California.  Literally.  A brother in San Diego, a sister in San Jose, and another brother in Santa Cruz.  However, we’re thinking about having a conference call or a joint email just to acknowledge our bond and our love for one another.  It’s time to get creative!

Join us at The Maria Sanchez Show in celebrating our brothers and sisters on National Siblings Day. Don’t forget to check out our latest program, Shadow Politics with Senator Michael D. Brown. Tune in on Sundays at 4:00 p.m. PDT/7:00 p.m. EDT.
