Show Support During World Breastfeeding Week

Breastfeeding Week

What To Do For World Breastfeeding Week

For a baby, the best option for healthy, natural food is (of course) breast milk. It makes sense, since women’s bodies naturally start producing this milk as soon as their babies are born.  The challenge in our lives today is for women who work outside the home, thus,  breast feeding is not always easy or convenient.

We are currently in the middle of World Breastfeeding Week (it runs from August 1st to 7th), which is sponsored by the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA). During this week, WABA is working to raise awareness about and support families who want to allow the mothers to be able to continue working and simultaneously continue breastfeeding. They hope to promote steps employers can be taking to be more nursing mother-friendly as well as to empower women to take advantage of a family leave as well as the opportunity to breastfeed at the workplace.

Before you jump to conclusions and say that is asking a lot of an employer to provide such facilities as a lactation room.  Please keep in mind that hundreds of studies have shown that the happier a company’s employees are, the employees are more productive, have less absenteeism, demonstrate greater productivity, have more loyalty and stay with the company longer than the average.

So it really creates a win/win/win which benefits all of us!

Make your voice heard to your employer about the importance of supporting working mothers during this week, and you will be helping babies get the best start to their new lives.

At The Maria Sanchez Show, we are dedicated to helping every family be as healthy and whole as possible. We hope you’ll join us in supporting World Breastfeeding Week!
