Breast Cancer Awareness Month: Find Out How you Can Support this Cause

If you or a loved one has had breast cancer affect their life, you probably already know that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and may even have participated in an Avon Walk for Breast Cancer event. What you may not know is how to help support the cause by donating your healthy hair. Check out the podcast from September 13, 2013, where I spoke with Brittany Davis, an ovarian cancer survivor who shared her fight with cancer, and how a human-hair donated wig helped her deal with her struggle.

One side effect of the treatments cancer patients undergo is chemotherapy, which usually causes hair loss, which can be devastating. Brittany received her wig through the Beautiful Lengths program, a partnership between Pantene and the American Cancer Society, which has donated 24,000 real hair wigs for cancer patients. This is a cause dear to my heart, as my own mother underwent a mastectomy. Perhaps this informative podcast will inspire you to cut your healthy ponytail to donate your hair for cancer patients?
