Benjamin Franklin Birthday and Fun Facts

Celebrate Ben Franklin’s birthday with these fun facts.

As one of the Founding Fathers, Benjamin Franklin had an influential role in American history. We’d like to invite you to celebrate Ben Franklin on his birthday. January 17 is his 311th birthday. In honor of the occasion, we think you may enjoy these fun facts about Benjamin Franklin.

  • Two years of formal education. Known for his multitude of inventions, it’s hard to believe that Mr. Franklin only had two years of formal education. He dropped out of school to join the family business. He, however, loved to read and developed an education by reading his books.
  • Leisure Time. Benjamin Franklin started off a poor man but soon made a decent living for himself as a printer. At age 42, he retired. In retirement, he devoted his time to his inventions and public service.
  • Again, a notable American who made some amazingly wise statements.

“An investment in knowledge pays the best interest.”

“They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.”

“Our new Constitution is now established, everything seems to promise it will be durable; but, in this world, nothing is certain except death and taxes.”
